As everyone knows, our entire nation is dealing with this COVID-19 outbreak. We have been asked, as a nation, to engage in “social distancing” to help decrease the spread of this virus, keep our community as healthy as possible, and help decrease the stress on our already burdened healthcare system which will allow healthcare workers to continue to provide care to the everyday emergencies in addition to the increased need generated by COVID-19. Simply, we want to do our part to keep people heathy. This is not punitive. This is the current reality for everyone – worldwide.
Because we truly care about our residents, staff, volunteers, and our community, we are asking for your help.
The Micah Project requests that all residents, staff, and volunteers self-quarantine for the first two weeks after returning from a trip to a country the CDC has designated as level 3, currently China, Iran, South Korea, Europe (Schengen Area): Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City; United Kingdom and Ireland: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland.
We also ask you, our residents, staff, and volunteers adhere to the following preventive measures:
· Stay home if you or a household member has been officially diagnosed with COVID-19.
· Stay at home if you are presenting cold or flu symptoms.
· Follow good cough and sneeze etiquette.
· Use good hand hygiene.
All visitors/volunteers/staff at the house MUST complete the Visitor Health Questionnaire BEFORE entering. This is found in the silver envelope clipped to the mailbox. If any items from the list are checked, the visitor will NOT be permitted to enter the property. They will need to be in contact with Micah Staff/Board before they will be allowed to visit in the future.
For our residents, the following is effective immediately, and will remain until further notice:
Interaction with people outside of the house will be limited to work, medical appointments, immediate family/Spouse/significant other, and in groups of 10 or less (per the most recent recommendation of our national government).
The requirement for attending outside meetings is waived. The recovery community will be accessed via virtual meetings. www.Intherooms.com and the Meeting Guide app are options. Also use Facetime and Google Hangouts for staying in touch with local people.
Internal meetings (house meeting, 12-step meeting, spiritual meeting) will be limited to 10 people.
There will be NO community hand towels. Please use paper towel in the kitchen and all bathrooms to dry hands after washing.
Please wash your hands immediately upon arrival home from the community.
Be diligent in completing chores DAILY – this includes sanitizing all high touch surfaces AT LEAST ONCE DAILY. This includes counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, bedside tables, remotes, switches/pulls, toilets, sinks. Use Lysol or other disinfecting spray, other cleaning agent labeled “disinfectant”, or bleach cleaner.
Food delivery is OK.
As this pandemic continues to unfold, we will all need to remain adaptable and responsive. We ask that you bring your questions to the house manager or the Board to ensure we are remaining transparent and responsive to your needs, while understanding that we may not have an immediate answer and will respond as quickly as possible.
